Revlon Nearly Naked 7

This is an incredibly sheer, lightweight foundation.  One problem?  The shades run from sheer LIGHT beigey-orange to sheer DARK beigey-orange.  The exceptions are the two lightest shades, which are compatible with light, pink skin: Ivory and light, yellow skin: Vanilla.  (BTW – Emma Stone is wearing Vanilla in the ad below.)  Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if it looked too peachy if you are very fair.  Shell is a very warm, almost orangey peach.  Fresh Beige has a strong pink-orange look to it.  MAC NC 25 folks can wear Medium Beige as it is the yellowest shade of the entire range.  Any shade after that is basically MAC NC 30 – MAC NC 42, maybe darker. The second yellowest shade, but much deeper, is the Sun Beige.   However, if you have medium, beigey-orange undertones then you can possibly fit multiple shades.

Revlon Nearly Naked 1

Please pay no mind to the yellow, or olive, undertone markers in the color guide above.  The only one you need to be aware of is PEACH (beigey-orange).  Apparently, Revlon felt that yellow and olive undertone gals wouldnt’ mind wearing varying shades of PEACH (beigey-orange), which because of the sheerness of the formula, can be used as an OK match, if you don’t mind looking teeny hints of orange, if you are not orange-undertoned.

Revlon True Match Concealer Sticks 2

L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer comes in a chubby crayon stick.  The formula is kind of dry and patchy.  I guess best for covering acne-not undereye area, but the patchy part makes it not that great for blending or seamless coverage.  The W4-5 was too dark, but the W1-2-3 was too light on my light-medium, yellow skin with hints of green in it.

Large chunks of gold glitter – even in the non-shimmery version – sheer, plasticky, uneven patchy color.  Don’t waste your dollars.  Overpriced and bad.

L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain

Loreal Caresse Stain 9

Loreal Caresse Wet Shine Lacquer

Not a substitute for ANY of the stain lacquers in the higher end market.  This did not go on evenly and it broke apart in patches.  Pigmentation visibly clumps on application.  Forget about letting your lips touch each other.  It will peel in patches and stick to each other.  Total nightmare.  Stick with their Caresse Stick Lipstick, which is GREAT!

Maybelline Color Whisper by Color Sensational

I was really curious about these.  The pigmentation on these are inconsistent.  Some of the lighter shades are basically gloss with shimmer.  However, the deeper colors had a lot more even color payoff – not so “Whisper” eh?  For $7.99, if you get the right color, these are quite nice, actually.  The first Maybelline lipstick product I liked (just be careful which color you pick).

Eh.  Not worth the price.  But no where near as bad as the L’Oreal Colour Caresse Shine Stain.  Oooh, those were BAD!!!  I reviewed these here.

  1. I love everything you showed!!! *O* The stands are really tempting, but the one thing I am really interested in is the new Revlon foundation (or primer or BB cream). Hopefully, it’ll come to Italy soon. 😦

    • New makeup releases are always fun. Out of the bunch, Revlon’s were probably the best. I knew I was itching to get my hands on the Naked foundation. Too bad, the darker shades were orange. I think you would likely be ivory or vanilla.

  2. I really want to try the Revlon BB cream but don’t know what color to get. I did purchase the Revlon Naked Foudnation but if you have oily skin stay away from it. I’ll be reviewing it later with swatches. Have you tried the BB cream?

    • Ooooh! That’s good to know. I didn’t try it long enough, just saw that it was very orangey tinted, even if sheerly so. Awesome! I can’t wait to see your review. Don’t think I am going to do a full review on the Nearly Naked then. I actually LOVE the BB Cream, so far. Review not scheduled to post till late january, though, since it’s subject to change. Yeah, it does run within the same shade range as the Nearly Naked, just not AS orange. However, if you layer it heavily – HOLY ORANGE (only an issue if you do not have orange undertones). I have the light and light medium now. Checking to see if Light oxidizes, or layers, darker the way Light-Medium does. But I really have been loving it so far. So easy, and goof proof casual coverage.

  3. SO curious about that Revlon Photoready BB Cream now! I was thisclose to buying it when I first saw it a couple of weeks ago but I was unsure of how it would work on my oily skin since it didn’t specify being oil-free on the bottle. So it really works well for you?

    • Been using it for almost 2 week every day after the gym, or out on weekends. I really like it. It’s my new jam. I got a little layer happy though and decided to add like THREE layers on just to see if it looked cakey (it didn’t) but I looked REALLY orange when I got home. Woops! So, I figured out one layer is sufficient – three is overkill. But I, also, recently picked up the Light shade which is a paler, subdued nude-peach. Going to see how that wears. Not a problem on my super oily, acneic skin – if something is, it breaks me out almost IMMEDIATELY after use. But it also the winter and it is colder and drier out there on the east coast. May likely feel differently over the summer. It does have a creamy texture I would avoid on humid days.
